Running through darkness
Feet soaked, drenched with mud.
No light except for what lies ahead
Flickering like a speck in the distance.
Time standing still like that of ice
Cold and lifeless.

Where am I?
How did I come to be here?
Why am I all alone?
Can anyone here my screams?
What lays ahead for me?
When will I ever find peace again?

Lungs tighten, Eyes water
With the pain of fear and strain.
Jumping over large branches
While face is slapped with twigs in way.
Everything seems to be falling
Breaking down with ever step taken.

The will of coming closer
Only to not have gained a step.
Feeling of no way out,
Widened with no sound
My voice is no more.
I try as hard as I am able.

Speck growing dim
Knees cave under me.
Salt water stains my cheeks and lip
No way out...No...Way.
I grip the ground
As if to anchor myself.

Blinding light shines
Warms face dries tears.
A feeling of familiarity washes over
Breath returns to normal sadness fades.
Fur brushes against my arm
Wet nose and kisses on my cheeks.

He sits there, long dark hair
Shining electric blue eyes.
Loving smile baring sharp teeth
Embracing him petting a dear old friend.
Light grows bringing everything back
Old friends and new, faces as bright as ever
I know I'm home.
